NYAVA Committees For more information, or to join a committee (members only), please contact the committee chair(s).
Apprenticeship/Mentoring Committee Mentors are available to all NYAVA members. Mentors provide consultations, to offer guidance and counseling, or to act as a sounding board for new and experienced volunteer administrators. Visit MemberClicks to identify a mentor who is a match to your current concerns and/or issues that you would like to discuss. This will bring you to the mentoring page and you will then see the roster link. Click on the link and it will download it onto our computer. Members can also contact the committee chair to identify a mentor. The Apprenticeship/Mentoring Committee offers New Members Breakfasts and Brown Bag Breakfasts (BBBs) throughout the year as a membership benefit (free). New Members Breakfast include a brief introduction to NYAVA, a time to discuss members' professional challenges, and network. BBBs provide an opportunity to address topics relevant to the industry, time to discuss members' professional concerns, and time to network with colleagues. See details under Calendar of Events. Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee works to recognize potential leaders within the membership of NYAVA and helps to provide the Association with the best possible leadership while promoting maximum member participation in the election process. Members are encouraged to consider serving on a NYAVA committee or self nominating for the 2007 election which takes place in the fall. Members should also think about who they would like to serve in these leadership positions (if not oneself) and start a conversation with potential NYAVA leadership volunteers. This committee is currently being appointed by the Board of Directors. If you are interested in being appointed to this committee please contact nominating@nyava.org.
