NYAVA Professional Development (PDC)

You're invited to join:

The Professional Development Committee Monthly Meetings
The PDC generally meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m., with a few evening meetings interspersed to accommodate varying schedules. PDC takes a recess from meeting during the summer months. Please consult the Calendar of Events for upcoming meetings and any scheduling changes. Contact Elizabeth Lewis, PDC Chair, if you would like to join us at one of our meetings at 718-230-2212 or pdc@nyava.org.

The PDC is one of the oldest and most active committees in NYAVA. We rotate our meeting locations to afford convenience to all our members. We're sure there is a location near you. Come out and join this exciting team of professionals working to keep our members on the cutting edge of current trends and volunteer management best practices. For more information about the committee or if you would like to join, contact Elizabeth Lewis at (718) 230-2212 or pdc@nyava.org.

The committee is proud to present the following professional development opportunities during 2008. See details under Calendar of Events.

2008 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP SERIES
The Professional Development Committee coordinates professional development workshops throughout the year, including one free to our membership at the Annual Membership Meeting. Our topics are based on trends in the industry, and more importantly, input taken from participant evaluations: we do listen to you! See details under Calendar of Events. Members may use up to two membership vouchers per year to bring a non-member colleague free of charge to qualifying workshops..

PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES

To further your professional development, consider attending NYAVA's volunteer management course, Principles & Practices. In this course, you will learn about: recruitment, screening, retention, recognition, and the volunteer-staff relationship providing all the essential elements necessary to create and/or enhance your volunteer program. The next volunteer management course will be held in the Fall of 2008. For additional information contact principles@nyava.org or see course description.
