Course ObjectivesCome develop and strengthen your volunteer program with NYAVA’s signature volunteer management course. The Principles & Practices of Volunteer Program Management provides 2 days of intensive instruction on all the essential elements of an effective volunteer program. You will work in an interactive group setting with our two experienced instructors and your volunteer management peers to build skills that will be immediately useful to your program. Whether you are building the foundation of a new volunteer program or enhancing your current work with volunteers, Principles & Practices contains all the tools you will need to face the challenges of volunteer management. Gerald (Jerry) Pannozzo, CVA, 2nd Vice President Since 1993, Jerry has been an active member with AVA-Region 2 that evolved into the current NYAVA. Other professional associations he has been involved with include AVA, GNYADVS, NYSAVSA, and AL!VE. He has been a leader of volunteer engagement at a CBO, licensed nursing home, city volunteer center, and various hospitals. As of 2005, he has been presenting workshops at the local, state, and national level. There was also some teaching on volunteer resources management. Since 2012 he has been a co-instructor for NYAVA’s signature two-day course, Principles and Practices of Volunteer Program Management. Shaina Sherman, Board Chair Shaina Sherman is currently a Development Officer focused on youth and family engagement for JDC, a global humanitarian organization based here in NY. Previously she was the Director of Volunteer Services for Met Council, overseeing volunteering programs for all ages, serving the agency in many ways ranging from food pantry support to a robust internship program. Before working in NYC, Shaina worked in her home state of NJ as Service Learning Coordinator for The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life. Shaina received her MSW from Rutgers University and her BA in Psychology, Social Work, and Gender studies from Rider University. She was trained as a Peer Leader for Take Control of Your Health, participated as a PresenTense Social Entrepreneurship Fellow, and a Rutgers School of Social Work Fellow in Geriatrics & Aging. Shaina has served in a leadership role at NYAVA for 4 years, and looks forward to sharing her passion for volunteer management and the non-profit field while learning from others as a P&P co-instructor!
